Rebel Cafe
Rebel Cafe and Garden is another spot you'll want to add to your list of MUST VISIT Brooklyn restaurants in Williamsburg. The ambience offers instagramable backdrops featuring several seating corners decorated with a mix of floral arrangements, neon lighted signs, and 3D wall arts. Rebel Cafe which open at the beginning of June this year is one the the unique BK spots that offers and upstairs dining experience and downstairs club till 2am. With two bar areas and an indoor outdoor bar patio to their main bar, the social setting for Rebel is definitely top notched easily one of the most versatile we have visited. The outdoor courtyard and live DJ that Rebel features creates an inviting space for the perfect day party and brunch celebration, that they offer every Saturday and Sunday from 11-4pm.
Although Rebel is open to all ages, at 7:30pm it becomes a 21 and over exclusive experience at Rebel and at 10pm their exclusive downstairs eclectic Rose Club opens its’ rose runway entrance. Darkly-lit and adorned with framed artworks, and moody lightning, The Rose immediately sets the tone for a discrete but party ready underground nightclub!
Between The Rose Club and Rebel Cafe, you can easily spend hours on hours here socializing and even networking over signature cocktails + small bites via happy hour, and a choice selection of main feature items before heading downstairs for your after dark festivities. Oh, and the Rose also comes with it’s own separate DJ station to blast sounds that can differ from that of the upstairs counterpart! there's definitely a vibe with live music that’s unlike another around!
For this tasting feature, five cocktails and four bites were sampled. Let's start with the bites. First up was the garlic buffalo wings, then shrimp tacos, shrimp tempura and fried artichoke. I really enjoyed it all, just wasn't a fan of the fried artichoke. For the drinks, there were definitely some favorites where taste and strength outweighed the others.
The DRINKS
• Hellfire was deliciously sweet and spicy, totally recommended.
• Bushwick Garden was good too, recommended.
• Strawberry Dreams tops my top 3 favorite, recommended for sipping via brunch and/or happy hour in the garden...I especially enjoyed the muddled strawberries.
• Watermelon Smash wasn’t as strong, and bold in taste as I'd prefer, so it
was ok for me.
• Brooklyn Sour comes in at number five. Again, this wasn’t as bold and strong in taste as I'd prefer....so if you like very subtle drinks, you probably won’t mind as much
The EATS
• I appreciate a good Shrimp Taco in general, but I personally felt as though there could have been some more seasoning to the shrimp, enhanced by the sauce that came with it. You may not mind as much.
• The Garlic Buffalo Wings were good
• I'm all for the Shrimp Tempura sampled, which comes with a sweet n' tangy sauce.
Rebel Cafe & Garden is a vibe to be experienced, between the cafe, garden space with a live DJ, and The Rose club....you are sure to have a good time on location at 2 Knickerbocker Ave, Brooklyn New York.
