The Best Footwear From Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week Menswear had a variety of looks ranging from simple, sophisticated, and chic to outlandishly edgy. The clothing was top tier as usual, but some brands also deserve recognition for their unique footwear, presented in this seasons MPFW 2022 shows. Here are just some of the highlights from Paris Fashion Week Menswear in terms of footwear.

Fashion is getting more androgynous, and Egonlab was sure to incorporate androgyny in their Spring/Summer 2022 Egonlab Dynasty collection. The show challenged gender norms by featuring some men wearing items such as necklaces and skirts, as well as few more masculine options. Egonlab included this balance in the footwear as well, as some of the models wore simple flat shoes or socks and sandals, while others wore boots with distinct heels and highsocks, bending gender norms for shoe options.

The “Love Festival” Collection by Cool TM also brought androgynous vibes through a vibrant array of colors, fabric patterns, and style patterns in their intimate presentation. Many of the models sported sunglasses, masking their facial features in mystery and adding more emphasis to what they were wearing and how they were wearing it. But, the shoes, not as wild as the clothing, but they were the cohesive bold statements that brought the outfits to their peaks, and made a noticeable fashion statement in the communicated style and direction .

Yohji Yamamoto’s fashion show always stands out with this season presenting a polarizing black and white collection. The loosely fitted clothing from the collection featured many monochromatic, bold patterns, such as a newsprint design. The footwear consisted of a style fitting black and white sneaker base to match the focus color scheme. However, the shoes that significantly stood out had the newsprint style to match the outfit, and the material looked intentionally floppy on some like it would fall off. This style was especially intriguing.

In terms of an edgy look, Fumito Ganryu’s “Compatibility” collection nailed it with offbeat yet memorable footwear choices such as thicker-than-usual sandals and flat sneakers that looked like distorted Converse, where the section of the shoe with the laces only took up part of the surface. These attention-grabbing shoe choices complemented the baggy clothing such as long jackets and hoodies from the presentation, adding to the cool, sort of psychedelic vibe.

A couple of brands, such as Ziggy Chen and Gravalot even featured barefoot models, creating a very unique footwear situation during Paris Fashion Week but each added to a completed the look the brand was pushing to communicate. which was an unexpected yet interesting detail. Some overall recurring trends from the week seemed to be socks with sandals and black and white sneakers, so get ready to see more of these styles every day.
